Laura D. Hernandez is a Port Hueneme councilmember, former mayor, emergency-management leader, educator, and longtime Port Hueneme resident.

Her public-service career includes 16 years with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services, where she worked on countywide disaster planning. Laura now brings that preparedness, collaboration, and steady local focus to Port Hueneme. She has served as an adjunct professor in management.

Laura’s volunteer work reflects a long-standing, broad, and hands-on commitment to community service. Rather than focusing on a single issue, her involvement spans civic participation, education, public safety, equity, environmental stewardship, faith, and assistance to families in need.
